How this calculation works
Method and assumptions
Subtract unavailable assets and nonoverlapping closing/other uses from gross liquidity. Compare remaining cash with an entered target and monthly support need.
Worked example
Starting with $1 million liquid assets, deduct $100,000 already restricted, $500,000 closing equity, $100,000 other commitments and $50,000 additional restricted reserves. Unrestricted post-closing cash is $250,000, which is $50,000 above the entered $200,000 target and supports ten months of the assumed $25,000 monthly cash need.
Before using the result
Know the boundaries
- Educational scenario, not a quote, commitment, approval, appraisal or payoff statement.
- Defaults and thresholds are editable illustrations; the executed documents and lender underwriting control.
- Asset eligibility and required liquidity are lender-specific. This does not treat marketable securities as automatically eligible at full value.
