The debt decision library
Documents and templates
Use editable planning documents with completed examples, field instructions, and evidence requirements.
Templates help a financing team preserve evidence and reconcile work across people. Their value comes from the decisions they organize, not from filling every cell. Begin with a blank copy, understand the schema and use the completed hypothetical sample to check interpretation. These files provide starting structures for an evidence ledger and a phased funding budget; they do not independently verify facts, enforce access controls or obtain lender acceptance.
How should blanks and status fields be interpreted?
A blank is unresolved information, not a zero amount or an affirmative answer. Use explicit statuses for facts checked, documents submitted, lender questions and conditional funding. Do not overwrite an unresolved issue simply to produce a complete-looking schedule.
When should a template be revised?
Revise it when the transaction’s decision or evidence changes. Preserve the prior version and identify dependent calculations or submissions. Add fields that clarify the actual process, while avoiding redundant sensitive information that belongs in controlled source documents.
A path through this collection
Connect each claim to evidence
Assign stable claim identifiers and preserve source version, location, period and interpretation. Separate human checking from lender acceptance so each status has a clear meaning.
Reconcile the funding schedule
List sources and uses using one consistent gross-or-net presentation. Balance the total and each phase, including prior deposits and conditional future advances, then test timing within those phases.
Integrate the files into active work
Connect open evidence issues to the request log and updated funding need. Assign an owner and next action for each unresolved item, and distribute revisions through a controlled process.
What you should have when you finish
- A working copy with definitions understood and unresolved inputs clearly identified.
- A completed sample checked against its original evidence or hypothetical assumptions.
- Version ownership, update responsibilities and appropriate controls for private transaction data.
